Who Knew?
I’m sure many of you out there have already figured out the power of LinkedIn for professional networking. As a business owner, I do not use it to find a job, but it is definitely useful for other things. Like what, you ask. Here’s a list.
My Typical Uses of LinkedIn:
- Finding employees
- Researching prospective employees
- Researching business prospects
- Monitoring the world for business news
- Knowing when someone in my network changes jobs
- Knowing when someone in my network is celebrating a milestone
- Finding connections between people I know and people I want to know
So What’s With “Who Knew?”?
That seems like a lot of question marks all in one place, but it feels right, so we are going to go with it. Anyway, I have found another use for LinkedIn that I may have overlooked for quite some time. As an Internet marketer, an SEO, and a person who loves traffic, it turns out that LinkedIn can do just that. It can generate some traffic. It’s not on the level of some of the other social networks out there, but it’s significant enough to take notice.
What You Need:
- A network of reasonable size
- Shareable content
- Content that is relevant to the business community
- About 30 seconds to post
- It also helps to have a catchy title and a catchy description
That’s it! Just posting one article to LinkedIn has brought me quite a bit of traffic in a matter of minutes. I’m impressed.
That’s Not the End
If you know me, you know that’s not the end of it. I will be watching to see the lifetime value of the traffic. I will keep an eye out for the traffic arc. There is a natural curiosity to find the ramp up and ramp down period. All these things being said, it is still a nice little boost and one you may be able to leverage for your own company or post.
